…one single week.
If every MACPA members’ papers were recycled back into newsprint, this would be the measurable impact of just one week:
• 10,625 trees would be saved
• 1,875 cubic yards of landfill space saved, equal to 31 tractor trailers
• 2,563,750 fewer kilowatts would be used than to process virgin wood fiber (trees), enough electricity to power 1,282 homes for a month
• 37,500 fewer pounds of air pollution would be spewed, the equivalent of taking 1,389 cars off the road for a day.
• 4,375,000 gallons would be spared in the manufacturing process, enough to fill 9 olympic-sized swimming pools.

And the commercial value? Recent spot market price for all that recovered newsprint is $16,250…close to a million a year. Then add the cost savings from evasion of landfill tipping fees….
